Hebrews, Session 7, Roots

The book of Hebrews reveals how everything in the Old Testament pointed toward Jesus Christ. Unlike earthly priests who served in temporary tabernacles, Jesus ministers in the true heavenly sanctuary as our ultimate High Priest. The animal sacrifices of the Old Testament served as shadows of the reality found in Christ's perfect sacrifice. While these sacrifices could only temporarily atone for sin, Jesus' sacrifice provides complete and eternal forgiveness. The new covenant doesn't replace God's promises to Israel but opens the door for all people to have direct access to God through Christ's finished work.
