Sinners Welcome Here
April 13, 2026
Jesus' call to Matthew the tax collector reveals God's radical grace toward society's outcasts. Tax collectors were despised as traitors in Jewish society, yet Jesus chose Matthew as a disciple and dined with his sinful friends. When religious leaders criticized this, Jesus explained that He came for those who recognize their spiritual sickness, not those who think they're already righteous. The church should function as a hospital for sinners, welcoming the broken while calling them to repentance. Matthew's transformation from despised tax collector to Gospel writer demonstrates the incredible change possible when we respond to Jesus' invitation to follow Him.
